You needed something refreshing.
We are glad to be a part of our community parade where you demonstrated your commitment to the district. Thank you.
Our motivation is showing you, through this action, God’s love.
Water is essential for life. Jesus says that He is the water of life. The Lord knows we “thirst” for something meaningful in life. We seek to quench this thirst through many activities that often pacify us but not satisfy us. Jesus used a word we struggle to understand. That word is “righteousness”. It means to have a right standing with God. To be “right” with God.
However, in our struggle and rebellion over who God is in our life, we continue to remain thirsty. We desire to control our life and yet we fail so many times to find fulfillment. We look to relationships, destructive behaviors, even religion and we are not satisfied.
God is seeking a loving relationship with us. He knows we sin and He has provided His Son, Jesus Christ, as the payment for our sin. Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead so that we can have this relationship with the Lord.
However, it’s not automatic. Just as we offered a bottle of water to you, God offers this relationship to you. The Bible calls this “eternal life”. It means a purposeful life of knowing the Lord and living for Him.
You could have rejected our offer. In the same way, many who are “thirsty” reject God’s offer of Jesus as the water of life.
To receive His offer we must realize we are thirsty for Him and that many, if not most, of our attitudes and actions are in rebellion against Him. We must admit to God we are a sinner and have sinned. We must turn away from sin. This is repentance. Then by faith, we trust the work Jesus accomplished on the cross is enough to forgive and save us.
We would love to hear from you concerning any questions you have about your spiritual journey.
